On July 25th, The Billfish Foundation proudly participated in the final event of the Stuart Sailfish Club’s Youth Fishing Seminar Series, featuring a dynamic afternoon focused on Conservation and Ethics.
Held at the Stuart Sailfish Club, this seminar brought together future anglers and conservation leaders for a hands-on, educational experience. We teamed up with River Kids to create an engaging and interactive space where young anglers learned about the importance of sustainable fishing practices and the conservation of billfish.
TBF’s station was a hit! Kids explored real billfish bills up close, played educational games to learn how to identify different species, and got creative with ocean-themed coloring activities. We also gave a live demonstration of how to properly tag a billfish using a real tag stick, showing participants what responsible, science-driven sportfishing looks like in action.
This event capped off a successful summer series investing in the next generation of anglers, emphasizing respect for marine ecosystems, safe fishing practices, and the role each of us plays in preserving ocean life.
Huge thanks to the Stuart Sailfish Club and Catch of the Day Charters for inviting us to take part.
Together, we’re building a future where conservation and fishing go hand in hand.
