Bid for Billfish, as TBF Launches its Summer Research Auction
The Billfish Foundation (TBF) is excited to announce the launch of its Summer Research Auction, an exclusive online event running from Wednesday, June 11 through Friday, June 20, 2025. This exciting auction will follow a traditional format—highest bid wins—and features a wide range of incredible items for anglers and ocean lovers. With incredible gear from Costa Sunglasses, Pelagic, YETI, Garmin, Nomadix, Boat Outfitters, and more, there’s sure to be something for everyone!
But what makes this auction truly special? Every dollar raised will go directly to supporting TBF’s cutting-edge billfish research and conservation projects.
Since 2023, TBF has helped launch three incredible research projects, with each aiming to answer specific questions related to certain billfish species, fisheries, gear types, and communities that depend upon them.
- The 2023 Marlin Fly Project explored innovative, fly-fishing-based tagging techniques for Striped Marlin in Magdalena Bay, Mexico.
- The 2024 Skillie Project aimed to better understand White Marlin (“Skillie”) off the coast of New England, including sustainable management and fisheries protection.
- The 2025 Bahamas Project, a newly launched and fast-growing grassroots effort hopes to map billfish migration patterns in the Caribbean.
These projects are just the beginning. TBF is focused on building momentum toward a long-term, community-based research model, which will expand its work through 2026 and beyond. With each new project, TBF brings together scientists, anglers, local communities, and partners to improve billfish science and conservation strategies across the Atlantic.
And that’s where you come in! By bidding in the Summer Research Auction, you’re not just taking home something special—you’re investing in the future of billfish. This auction will directly support these projects, allowing TBF to continue its pivotal wo
rk on international billfish research. So if you’re looking to get involved, look no further. And please remember to support all these amazing organizations that so graciously contribute to TBF’s mission.
The auction opens Wednesday, June 11 and closes Friday, June 20, 2025—so mark your calendars, spread the w
ord, and get ready to bid for the future of billfish science.
